TOM, Beit Issie Shapiro, and Google.org join forces increasing the global scale of access and affordability of assistive technology around the world.

“At Google.org, we support organizations that offer innovative solutions to complex challenges. We’re thrilled to back TOM as they help build a world that works for everyone.”

Brigitte Gosselink | Head of the Google Impact Challenge: Disabilities

THE POWER OF THE TOM MOVEMENT

With a $700,000 grant from Google.org, TOM is establishing the infrastructure and tools for community-powered Makeathons and Developer Groups around the world. Bringing Makers and people with disabilities together to prototype and share new open source solutions!

Prototypes developed by the TOM community will be available for free download on the Open Makers Market, inspiring innovation in the accessibility sector and making much-needed products available—and affordable—to people with disabilities.

“We proudly join the Google.org family and are determined to transform the face of affordable assistive technology for people with disabilities around the globe!”

Arnon Zamir | Chief Change Maker at TOM

“This is what I’ve been thinking of for years which is getting people like myself, the Need Knowers and sitting down with professionals, putting our ideas together, and making things that will actually help people.” Kim Lathrop | Team Grabber Bay Area Makeathon
