TOM at UMASS Lowell is part of the global movement TOM, striving to create and distribute affordable solutions to those with disabilities facing neglected challenges. This community works by connecting Need-Knowers in the local community with a team of people who can help create a solution to their personal needs, which can then be widely implemented and adapted as a public domain technology solution. The team spear-heading this process is comprised of a multitude of majors, and every individual will be given the title of Maker. It is important to remember that it’s not just engineers who can create solutions. It takes physical therapists, designers, engineers, artists, social media buffs, financial planners, and every person who wants to contribute to spreading the impact of TOM at UMASS Lowell to be successful.
