About this project
Our product is a stand that makes it easier for blind people to do weight training with dumbbells. The stand includes a cradle for resting the dumbbells, and cartridges for the dumbell plates. When the dumbell is on the stand, plates can be slid on or off the dumbell without the risk of them rolling away. The stand also includes slots for placing the locking screws while replacing weight plates.
The challenge
While exercising with dumbbells, switching weights between sets is a long and frustrating process. This is due to difficulties such as:
Locating weight plates for the next exercise set
Searching for weight plates that had rolled away
Stopping an exercise in the middle because the dumbbell nuts were loose
Who it helps
Yehuda Persi is a 29-year-old who lost his sight in an injury during military duty around 7 years ago. Yehuda likes to exercise with free weights and wants to be able to train with dumbbells independently, and easily at home.
