The solution is a removable 15° wooden ramp that attaches directly to a basketball hoop. It uses a combination of straight and bent tubes with hooks to hold it securely in place. The ramp is designed to guide the ball into the hoop and can be used with balls of different sizes.
This solution was developed during the Paris 2023 Makeathon.
Jérôme wants to take an active part in games and sporting activities, event through he has limitations in his upper limbs.
XXX
This solution was designed for Jérôme, a person with upper limb limitations who wants to actively participate in sports. It can also support other individuals with similar mobility challenges in their arms who still wish to play, compete, and score in inclusive sporting activities.
It was needed because Baskin, an inclusive sport that adapts basketball for people with and without disabilities, requires all players to have meaningful ways to contribute. Jérôme faced difficulty in scoring due to his limited upper limb movement. Without an adaptation, he would not be able to fully take part in the game.
The ramp provides Jérôme with a mechanical assistive tool that allows him to direct a ball into the basket with minimal upper limb movement. By rolling or lightly pushing the ball onto the ramp, he can score points independently, ensuring equal participation in the game while maintaining the spirit of competition and fun.
