The purpose of this device is to allow children who use tablets and dedicated apps to communicate with their surroundings. The device is designed to make typing on the iPad communication unit easier. The device is very simple to build and to operate and may help both users with visual impairment or motor disabilities.
The challenge was to make typing and communicating easier with the interaction of an iPad communication device.
The initial Need Knower from Nazareth was a child with Cerebral Palsy that had difficulty pressing the buttons on the iPad communication device. The second cycle of Need Knowers consisted of two children who had Angelman Syndrome.
