Accidental disconnection of an infusion set during chemotherapy
cause damages: overflow of cytotoxic substances,
environmental pollution, contamination in the infusion
set, waste of nursing time & waste of a set of infusion
sets.
As a pediatric oncology patient, my chemotherapy tubes often broke due to movement, causing spills that risk burns, blood contamination, and environmental hazards. I aim to solve this problem by designing a safer, more secure solution for tube connections.
This innovative connector features a two-step locking mechanism, similar to a childproof door lock, to prevent accidental disconnections.
This is a 3D-printed external connector compatible with various infusion tube sizes.
Tools needed
