Portable Accessible Ramp
About this project
This is a portable, foldable ramp that smooths uneven grounds so power wheelchairs can travel across.
The challenge
Uneven floors pose a real barrier of accessibility for individuals in wheelchairs. This solution was originally designed to enable smooth entrance and exit from bomb shelters, however, it can be useful for any uneven floor transitions.
Who it helps
This ramp was originally designed for Galit Lavi, but can help anyone using a wheelchair!
How it works
Uneven floors pose a real barrier to accessibility for individuals in wheelchairs. This solution was originally designed to enable smooth entrance and exit from bomb shelters, however, it can be useful for any uneven floor transitions!
Using simple materials such as wood, screws, and a sheet of polypropylene, this ramp is cheap, simple to produce, and easy to bring wherever helpful.
