Sit To Stand (S2S) Physical Therapy Device

Sit To Stand (S2S) Physical Therapy Device - open-source assistive technology working model by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

This device anchors the patient down to provide the physical therapist a greater ability to assist the patient in rising to perform the sit-to-stand motion.

Who it helps

The potential users of this device are patients who are unable to perform the sit-to-stand exercise individually due to mobility challenges.

How it works

The challenge of creating a device that anchors the patient down is addressed by the S2S, as the buckling system offers the patient solid binding to the device to perform the sit-to-stand exercise while remaining lightweight and portable.

The S2S device is an easily assembled and easy to use therapy equipment made of CNC-routed plywood parts and off-the-shelf components. The device is adjustable to the patient's foot width and maintains the patient's stability while performing exercises.
