Sock Aid

Sock Aid - open-source assistive technology concept by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

Siena struggles with physical tasks, including putting on socks, which can be a frustrating and time-consuming process for her. This project is crucial because it will enhance Siena's autonomy and confidence in her daily life activities.

Who it helps

Siena is on the spectrum and has trouble with motor skills. Physical tasks are very difficult to complete and she often needs assistance.

How it works

Our specialized "sock aid" will address the challenge by providing Siena with a way to put on her socks with minimal motions or maneuvers. After placing the sock on the tool, a simple pull upwards will guide the sock up the foot and ankle smoothly.

We are offering a customized "sock aid" designed specifically for Siena's needs. It includes ergonomic handles for easy gripping, a carefully shaped base to hold a sock, and a smooth surface to reduce reduce friction when sliding the sock onto the foot.

Tools needed
