Tactile Puzzles for the Visually Impaired

Tactile Puzzles for the Visually Impaired - open-source assistive technology product by the TOM Israel community community

About this project

Tactile Puzzles for the Visually Impaired is a set of 3D-printed tactile puzzles with a combination of braille labels, raised shapes, and easy-to-grasp pieces. Matching tactile cues guide assembly by touch, and the design can be customized in shape, size, and language.

The challenge

There is a significant gap in the market when it comes to tactile and sensory-based games that are truly accessible to blind and visually impaired kids. This project was developed with ELIYA nonprofit to address these needs.

Who it helps

Puzzles for the Visually Impaired were designed for children ages 2–3 who are blind or visually impaired. It can also be used by therapists, educators, and parents who support early tactile learning and cognitive development through play.
