The TOM community at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is based on a strong desire to do good in the world, especially to underserved and marginalized communities. We are fortunate to have excellent fabrication resources including the traditional 3D printers and laser cutters, along with high end CNC machines, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and other specialty tools. While some of these resources are in our own Interactive Media department, others are in different programs including Theatre, Visual Arts, Engineering, and specialized research labs. We benefit from strong university support and encouragement for all sorts of collaborations. In addition we have brilliant instructors that are great at figuring out practical solutions to tricky problems, and a highly engaged and motivated student body. We hope to take advantage of our unique location to serve communities that may have been neglected previously.
