April's grandmother's experiences provide valuable insights for developing effective solutions for skin burn survivors.
After suffering from a 70% skin burn, April's grandmother faced physical limitations due to the skin's inability to stretch and move properly. Burnt skin fused together, limiting the movement of her fingers and toes.
Skin burn patients often have problem eating chopsticks, especially picking up small pieces of food like peanuts. This is a problem of distortion of muscles after skin burn. We address this problem by adding a clamp to the chopsticks.
"SmartSkin" is a stablizer for skin burn patients to pick up food using chopsticks.
