Alternative Scissor Handle

Alternative Scissor Handle - open-source assistive technology working model by the University of Illinois- Chicago community

The challenge

We need to design alternative scissor handles that have large enough holes to accommodate his hands while also providing a soft touch for comfortability. These handles must replace the original handles on child safety scissors.

Who it helps

This project is for a fourth grade boy who needs to use primary scissors, but his hand is too big for regular child scissors. He also needs the scissors handle to be soft because of his sensory issues.

How it works

These handles can fit and replace the original factory handles on Fiskars child safety scissors.
