Credit Card Inserter

Credit Card Inserter - open-source assistive technology product by the Shepherd Center community

About this project

A 3D-printed handheld device that helps individuals with limited hand dexterity or grip strength insert and remove credit cards by reducing the need for precise pinching through the use of large finger holes, a long handle, and a guided card slot.

The challenge

The Shepherd Center strives to increase patients' independence

when performing activities of daily living such as the use of a credit card when making purchases.

Who it helps

Intended users of this Credit Card Inserter are individuals with limited hand dexterity or grip strength. This could lead to difficulty maintaining the appropriate pinching motion needed to insert and remove cards from various payment modalities.

How it works

The Credit Card Inserter limits the need for fine finger control or grip strength when making transactions by using

large finger holes and a long handle to finely carry the card.

The Credit Cart Inserter is a handheld, 3D printed device which uses two finger holes, a long handle, and a thin slot to

allow the user to easily insert or swipe cards during transactions.
