Detachable Handles for Taking Pans In and Out of the Oven

Detachable Handles for Taking Pans In and Out of the Oven - open-source assistive technology concept by the Widener University community

The challenge

People with CMT often have impactful balance and grasping difficulties that affect use of the oven and other appliances. This device allows for one-handed oven use in order to hold the pan more easily and stabilize to compensate for a lack of balance.

Who it helps

The users of this device are people with CMT and those who need to use one hand to put in and take out items from the oven for any reason.

How it works

This device can help Need Knowers to use the oven independently by using their free hand to hold onto an assistive device or other sturdy object to compensate for balance and grasp difficulties while using the oven.

This device allows users to use one hand to put pans into and out of the oven. It offers the option to detach and reattach the handles from the pan easily by using the holes in the separate components that stay secured to the pan.
