Ed is paralized from his neck down and wears a brace to allow him to use utensils. The team came up with the idea of making a specialized Yad that would fit into his brace. He also wanted to be able to drink from a cup without his assistant’s help. They found a cup with a special handle that minimizes spillage. They then customized it by adding a hook that fits into his brace so he can lift the cup by himself.
He has always been a lover of Torah, but because of the lack of mobility in his fingers, he has been unable to hold a Yad. Ed wears a brace specialized for his hand that allows him to use utensils when eating.
Ed is a Grandpa in Mount Kisco. He loves reading Torah and teaches Torah to Bar and Bat mitzvah students. Around 7 years ago, Ed was in a biking accident. He became paralyzed from the neck down, but over time was able to regain some movement in his right arm.
