EZ-Pad

EZ-Pad - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Milbat community

About this project

EZ-Pad is a device that enables females of all ages with low motor skills to independently and easily apply hygiene pads in private. The device is geared towards individuals during their menstrual cycle or those managing incontinence. EZ-Pad is made from Perpsex and cut using a laser cutter.

The challenge

TOM:Milbat wanted to design a product to enable people lacking fine motor skills in their fingers and wrists to hold a drinking cup and tilt it towards their mouths. Replacing hygiene pads required two hands.

Who it helps

Milbat worked with Johanna Doe, a one-handed woman who wanted an easy way to replace hygiene pads. Milbat is a nonprofit public organization operating throughout Israel to enable people with deterioration in their function to enjoy maximum independence by creating an adapted technological environment for them. Milbat employs of a team of rehabilitation experts and 600 volunteers who combine knowledge in rehabilitation and technology to supply information and to counsel people with disabilities of all ages in order to improve their function and quality of life.
