Made to measure - home office

Made to measure - home office - open-source assistive technology prototype by the 2021 TOM Global Innovation Challenge (GIC) community

About this project

We took our need-knower’s anthropometric measurements to design

a tailored desk and chair made to fit his body. We have also added

built-in power outlets, a ventilation fan and a speaker to enhance his

learning experience as an electronic engineer.

-A design that adapts to help people with physical disabilities

-A surface with an adjustable incline to perform different activities

-Arm/lumbar/head support/Cushioning for comfort

-Wheels for easy transportation

-Made by interlocking panels of wood

The challenge

Juan needs a home office that meets his studying needs and adapts

to his unique physique, specifically his small stature.

Who it helps

Juan is a dedicated electronic engineering student with short stature

and other skeletal abnormalities due to a rare condition known as

mucopolysaccharidosis type IV. He is looking for an optimal space in

which to study comfortably, especially when working from home has become the norm due to COVID-19

How it works

Made-to-measure home office is one of the participating projects of the 2021 Global Innovation Challenge.

You can learn more about the challenge on the GIC website or browse the projects on the GIC community page .
