The solution will provide easy access to belongings, medications, and other items as it will be stowed on the side of the wheelchair. It can be actuated manually to provide the user with a steady table surface. This surface provides the user with a place to use his iPad, while the bottom side of the surface contains pouches where he can store his iPad and other important belongings.
This device is for a wheelchair bound stroke survivor. It is designed to provide a wheelchair bound stroke survivor easy access to his belongings and medications as well a provide a table surface. Wheelchairs rarely come with accessible bags and those that do are often fitted on the back where they can't be easily reached or will require assistance for access. The challenge was to create a deployable bag system which would provide easy and independent access for Anthony.
Anthony is a stroke survivor who lost motion in his right hand and arm but retains full motion and control over his left arm. Anthony uses a wheelchair. He found that he couldn’t always reach his wheelchair bag.
