PEE Challenge

PEE Challenge - open-source assistive technology working model by the Queensland community

About this project

The solution is an arm that is attached to the wall that swings over the existing toilet, where Max can hold the handles for sensory feedback and urinate into a tank that can then be emptied into the toilet. Additionally, a music sensor has been fitted into the pipe that detects liquid when he uses the device and plays his favourite music to reassure him that he is using the device correctly, and attract him to continue to use the device.

The challenge

This device is designed to provide Max the ability to easily use the family's existing bathroom, without the device intruding on the rest of the family.

Who it helps

Max is a teenager with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He doesn't always interpret his body's spacial position well, and, because of this, he finds it difficult to aim well when he's peeing into the toilet in a standing position.
