The TOM: Queensland community was founded in 2017 as part of a global movement dedicated to creating, developing and disseminating solutions for the neglected needs of individuals living with a disability. TOM Global works by connecting Need-Knowers (individuals living with a deep understanding of neglected challenges, often an individual living with a disability) with teams of Makers (engineers, designers, developers, problem solvers, OT’s etc.) to create the public domain assistive technology solutions. The TOM: Queensland community is based at the AT_Makerspace, a Living Lab where people with disability, engineers, makers and allied health professionals co-design, co-develop and co-deploy assistive technology solutions.
