The solution was to modify the existing device. The team built a new version from steel to mitigate wear and replace the lever actuation from the original with a button activated solenoid.
The challenge was to design an improved breaking actuation system that will reduce wear compared to the existing solution, and will allow better usability to quadriplegic riders.
