Sergeys Monofin prosthesis

Sergeys Monofin prosthesis - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM International Community community

About this project

We offer a prosthetic monofin attachment designed to enhance the swimming and diving experience for individuals with a limb difference, providing balanced propulsion and improved efficiency.

The challenge

Sergey, a freediver with one shorter leg, faced strain from one-sided swimming. This custom monofin prosthesis enables balanced, full-body movement, reducing fatigue and injury risk.

Who it helps

The prosthetic monofin attachment could serve a wide range of users in the adaptive sports community, including swimmers and freedivers who require additional support to reduce strain and enhance performance in the water.

How it works

This solution allows users to engage their entire body for propulsion, focusing on the core and hips rather than relying on one leg. It reduces strain, improves balance, and enhances efficiency, addressing the challenges of fatigue and injury risk.
