Shoulder Rehabilitation Puzzle

Shoulder Rehabilitation Puzzle - open-source assistive technology prototype by the HIT - FIXPERTS community

The challenge

Conventional rehabilitation tools are often repetitive, unmotivating, and expensive to customize. This product provides a stimulating, affordable alternative that can be locally produced and adapted for individual therapy needs.

Who it helps

The product is designed for individuals recovering from shoulder injuries or surgeries who need engaging rehabilitation exercises. It also supports occupational and physical therapists seeking adaptable, hands-on therapy tools.

How it works

It uses standardized parts, clear assembly instructions, and accessible materials to simplify fabrication and repair. Iterative testing improved strength, stability, and usability—resulting in a reliable, low-cost, and user-centered rehabilitation solution

A puzzle-based rehabilitation device combining CNC-cut panels, 3D-printed components, and adjustable weights to promote controlled arm movement. The design encourages users to perform functional reaching and stabilizing motions while engaging cognitively.
