Sled Hockey Seat

Sled Hockey Seat - open-source assistive technology concept by the University of Southern California community

The challenge

Standard sled hockey sleds are designed on a one-size-fits-all basis unlike the Paralympic ones, and so are often uncomfortable and difficult for amputees to use.

Who it helps

Dick is an amputee activist and advocate with a new found sled hockey hobby.

How it works

This project will enable the user to more effectively control the sled during hockey games with added comfort. Also, should a sled turn over, the design will enable it to be more easily righted.

We are designing a padded brace that clips into the various standard sled sizes, with an integrated harness to more comfortably and effectively secure the passenger during operation.
