Ugani Prosthetics - High-quality, affordable custom made prosthetics for patients who suffered an amputation

Ugani Prosthetics - High-quality, affordable custom made prosthetics for patients who suffered an amputation - open-source assistive technology concept by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

There is a huge deficiency of assistive devices for people who suffered an amputation in developing countries. Many people do not even know of the existence of prosthetic legs, and are left hopping around or even crawling on the ground.

Who it helps

Belinda Anyango got hit by a truck while she was crossing the road when she was only three years old. As a result of the accident, she had to have her left leg amputated from the knee down. She now wears a prosthetic leg made by Ugani Prosthetics.

How it works

Our solution aims to help patients who are going through life without any form of assistive device. Using portable scanners, we can scan the residual limbs of patients in the world's most remote areas, and provide them with a custom-made prosthetic leg.

We are using innovative 3D scanning, modeling and printing technologies to make prosthetic limbs that are comfortable and durable, fast to produce, and only a fraction of the price of traditional prosthetics.
