The team designed 3D printed prosthetic thumb to improve and extend his grip. The purpose is to improve the grasping ability of the user by providing an extra digit and increasing the thumb length by providing an extension to the thumb.
He wants to catch a baseball.
The product was designed for Zayne, a six-year-old boy that has two fingers on his right hand and three fingers on his left (ulnar agenesis). Zayne also has a fusion on both of his elbows and limited bending ability of the second finger of his right hand. His shoulder rotation is uncompromised and he is dexterous with his fingers. His right thumb is shorter compared to the length expected. Zayne is left handed and can use the three fingers on his left hand to grasp small items and perform tasks such as writing to a whiteboard using a marker, sorting objects and pulling on clothing.
