The challenge

This project is crucial due to the strain on support workers, who must lean over to reach Alan's right hand for overnight communication, causing discomfort and inefficiency.

Who it helps

Alan is our Need-Knower; a person living with a disability who is an outgoing and cheerful gentleman. He is a power wheelchair user. Despite his mobility limitations, he communicates using his fingers to write letters.

How it works

The armrest, will greatly assist the "need knower," Alan, and support workers by providing a comfortable, and safe platform for overnight communication. It minimizes strain, , and ensures durability and easy maintenance , improving the quality of care.

Our Project focuses on creating an armrest to facilitate communication while adhering to safe manual handling practices.
