Arm Height-Assist Prosthetic for Pilates

Arm Height-Assist Prosthetic for Pilates - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

This project is needed because people with an elbow amputation may have uneven shoulder and back height during Pilates exercises. The prosthetic helps equalize body position, improving balance, posture, stability, and exercise performance.

Who it helps

People with an upper-limb amputation at or below the elbow who need additional height and support to perform Pilates exercises safely and effectively.

How it works

The 3D-printed prosthetic restores the missing height at the arm, helping keep the shoulders and back level during Pilates exercises. This improves balance, posture, stability, and overall exercise performance.

The solution is a lightweight, 3D-printed prosthetic that provides additional height and support during Pilates exercises, helping users maintain proper body alignment and perform movements more comfortably.
