90° brace for pilates

90° brace for pilates - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

This project is needed because people with a paralyzed or non-functional arm cannot keep their elbow bent during some Pilates exercises. The brace holds the arm at a 90° angle, providing support, improving stability. enabling safer, more effective exercise

Who it helps

People with a paralyzed or non-functional arm who have little or no movement or sensation. The brace keeps the arm bent at a 90° angle, allowing them to safely lean on it and perform Pilates exercises with greater stability and support.

How it works

The 3D-printed brace keeps the elbow securely at a 90° angle, providing the support needed for Pilates exercises. It allows users with a paralyzed or non-functional arm to safely bear weight on the arm, improving stability, safety, and independence.

The solution is a lightweight, 3D-printed brace that holds the elbow at a 90° angle. It provides stable support during Pilates exercises, allowing users with a paralyzed or non-functional arm to exercise more safely and comfortably.
