Elastic brace for running

Elastic brace for running - open-source assistive technology prototype by the BGU community

About this project

This project was designed for Ido, who has a nerve condition affecting control of his left hand, particularly elbow rotation and shoulder movement. It provides a support system that positions the hand comfortably while running, using an elastic band connected to the back to maintain mobility and adjust hand angle. The solution helps stabilize the hand during long-distance runs while allowing natural movement.

The challenge

Ido runs long distances, and his hand moves while running due to the inability to control it alone, so he is interested in a comfortable solution for his hand while running.

Who it helps

Ido suffers from a nerve problem in his left hand and cannot control certain movements in it, with an emphasis on turning the elbow and lowering the shoulder joint.

How it works

This solution succeeds in placing the hand in a comfortable position while running which also allows its mobility while running

We suggest building a support for the back in combination with an elastic band that will connect to the hand and the back that will create the stretch and the change in the angle of the hand.
