CAMSP

CAMSP - open-source assistive technology working model by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

Some children who use wheelchairs have limited motor skills that make it difficult or impossible to operate a standard joystick. They may lack the fine motor control, strength, or range of motion required for this type of interface.

Who it helps

The potential users of this project are children with motor disabilities who rely on powered wheelchairs but have difficulty using standard joystick controls.

How it works

The solution replaces the joystick with customizable buttons and a 3D-printed ergonomic headrest, tailored to each child's motor abilities. It enables intuitive, evolving wheelchair control, increasing comfort, autonomy, and accessibility.

The solution is a customizable and evolving wheelchair control system designed specifically for children with limited motor abilities. It replaces the traditional joystick with an adaptive button-based interface, and an adaptable head rest.
