Doug

Doug - open-source assistive technology concept by the Leffell School community

About this project

The team created a sink rack that has a contraption to elevate and hold the dishes in place while he washes with his hand. This contraption is able to flatten and reach different heights and widths for different types of utensils and dishes.

The challenge

He has a prosthetic but it cannot be worn sometimes. For example, he has to bend down into the sink to hold his dishes in place with his elbow.

Who it helps

Doug is the President of a Hebrew Institute in white plains. Doug was born with only one hand. He was born without part of his left arm and his arm ends just past his elbow. He has a prosthetic but it cannot be worn during certain activities such as washing the dishes.
