Dedalo Project

Dedalo Project - open-source assistive technology prototype by the 2021 TOM Global Innovation Challenge (GIC) community

About this project

The design is a hybrid, electromechanical prosthesis, with removable parts. It can perform movements of the fingers both together and individually, by being activated by a specific movement of the user’s hand and has a strong grip.

The solution is economically viable and accessible, an intuitive and durable product, resistant to daily conditions and able to reduce mobility limitations.

Thousands of people around the world are born or go through accidents that reduce or eliminate their mobility in the upper extremities and by offering a solution to this, we recognize them and help them have access to a more independent life.

Who it helps

The need knower is a university student with a medical condition that left him without four fingers and a dysfunctioning thumb in his left hand. This makes tasks that require the use of both hands difficult, like lifting objects

How it works

Fingers prosthesis - Dedalo Project is one of the participating projects of the 2021 Global Innovation Challenge.
