A light, digital-office arm prosthesis with stylus tips for touching screens and other
standard functions for office life such as: using a door chip/card,
stump extension for stability, pulling a computer from the bag, removing outlet plug, etc. This device was designed as part of TOM's Abraham Accords Open Innovation Challenge in 2022.
The Geek - Tech Prosthesis for Digital Screens was developed during the 2022 Abraham Accords Open Innovation Challenge.
Pnina is a smart young woman in her 20s, working as a developer and system designer, mostly with her computer and smartphone from the office. She is a below-elbow amputee and really wants to drink a cup of coffee while keeping scrolling the screen.
It was designed with Pnina to address the challenge that although there are many functional prostheses on the market, there is no real solution when it comes to the digital world. Constant use of computers/smartphones causes pain in the dominant hand, the amputee's only hand, and current manufacturing processes are long and expensive. This project enables Pnina to use her prosthesis to control touchscreen trackpads and screens for increased comfort and the ability to do more than one thing at a time.

What
A modular prosthesis designed to help the user perform everyday tasks around the offices. The prosthesis is primarily used for interacting with digital touch screens.
Why
Single arm amputees may find it difficult to multitask while using their smartphone or computer, since their one hand is interacting with the device.
Who
Single arm amputees who wish to use their prosthetic arm to perform everyday office tasks and use smartphones/computers.
How
Geek effectively turns your prosthesis into a stylus that can be used on touch screens and track pads. The styluses are also a modular component which can be swapped out for other attachments with alternative functions.
