Dressing Assistance Device

Dressing Assistance Device - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Technion community

The challenge

Roni is paralyzed in the lower part of his body and cannot undress and dress in the bathroom without the help of others. He sought a solution that would allow him to do this independently

Who it helps

People with lower-body mobility impairment who have difficulty dressing or undressing lower garments independently, especially in the bathroom.

How it works

We offer a ceiling-mounted dressing assistance device using two adjustable lifting belts. The belts are positioned under the user’s arms and provide body support while seated.

The device slightly lifts the user above the toilet seat, creating enough clearance to dress or undress lower garments independently. Because the user’s arms remain free, they can manage clothing without assistance from another person.

Tools needed

Heavy duty gloves

Measurement tool
