Dressing Tool

Dressing Tool - open-source assistive technology concept by the Shepherd Center community

The challenge

The Shepherd Center strives to increase patients' independence

when performing activities of daily living such as putting on and

taking off clothing items.

Who it helps

Intended users of this Dressing Tool are individuals with limited hand

dexterity or range of motion. This could lead to difficulty when dressing

oneself.

How it works

The Dressing Tool limits the need for fine motor movement or range

of motion when dressing by using an extension to pull up pants, pull

down sleeves, zippers, and other tasks.

The Dressing Tool is a handheld, 3D printed device that uses an

extension with various hooks and ridges that can grab and

manipulate edges of sleeves, zippers, and more.
