Easy Earnie

Easy Earnie - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

Fiona finds it difficult to independently don/doff her favourite screw-back earrings due to limited range of movement and dexterity within the left upper limb.

Who it helps

Fiona is a 41-year-old administrative coordinator in Camberwell who has a diagnosis of mild cerebral palsy which impacts the function within her left upper limb.

How it works

Easy Earnie serves as an additional hand for Fiona, enabling her to grasp and manipulate the earring while using her unaffected hand to securely screw it in place.

A specialised earring application and removal device created to meet the unique requirements of people such as Fiona, who experience difficulties due to restricted fine motor skills and limited upper limb range of movement.
