Vora: Inclusive Feminine Hygiene

Vora: Inclusive Feminine Hygiene - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM International Community community

The challenge

Our goal is to increase independence for individuals with feminine hygiene challenges. This project is needed to address the lack of inclusivity in the types of tampon applicators that are on the market. Vora allows for a wider grip and larger grasp.

Who it helps

Our need knower is a 24 year old female diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis who had challenges managing her monthly feminine hygiene. Her complaints included inability to grasp small tampon applicator without pain and fatigue with the pushing mechanism.

How it works

This solution will decrease the fine motor coordination and strength needed that a typical tampon applicator would require.

A piece of adaptive equipment to extend and build up a typical tampon applicator. This solution offers individuals with various hand and wrist conditions to maintain their independence and autonomy with feminine hygiene.
