Extandable Fork

Extandable Fork - open-source assistive technology concept by the BGU community

The challenge

Today, after a long amazing physical therapy Moshe can move his arms. But, not enough for eat by himself yet. Our challenge is to help Moshe eat on his own, on a daily basis and especially on friday night dinner with his family.

Who it helps

Moshe is a family loving person and a religious man, who lives in Beer Sheva. He suffers from a severe muscles tension due to work accident which limits his movement range.

How it works

Our solution will help Moshe to eat on his own while using all of his movement range by simple products that anyone can create with 3D printer and basic tools, in a low cost. The solution, as Moshe asked, is uses his movements, not replaceing them.

The solution is a combiation of 3 products. A long fork (or spoon) with rounded angle, a placement for a plate that will help him not moving it while he is eating and also higher than the table, and a small tool that will help his movements.
