Malak's Dance - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Hasoub community

About this project

A device designed to facilitate dancing while standing, offering both support and freedom of movement for the body.

The challenge

She wants to dance more easily and sometimes falls; she desires support.

There is the need to stabilize her posture and improve her walking during dance (freeing her hands for movement) and enable maneuverability .

Who it helps

Malak is 12 years old, loves to be independent, enjoys ballet dancing, and was born with cerebral palsy, which manifests as weakness in both legs and her right hand. She uses her left hand for writing, eating, and more.

How it works

She wants to dance more easily and sometimes falls; she desires support. There is the need to stabilize her posture and improve her walking during dance (freeing her hands for movement) and enable maneuverability .

The device offers stable lower body support for balance and upright posture, enables full motion for unrestricted ballet movements, operates hands-free to allow expressive hand use, is custom-fit for comfort and safety, aids in natural walking and posture
