Weight Lifting Assistive Device

Weight Lifting Assistive Device - open-source assistive technology working model by the Tulane University community

The challenge

Current solutions are expensive and bulky. This device can be personalized to the user and is easily assembled out of cheap, lightweight, and accessible materials.

Who it helps

Athletes with partially developed hands, missing digits, or limited grip strength

How it works

The current devices cost several thousand dollars and can only be purchased and made by a licensed professional. This is both expensive and time intensive. This design can be altered in open source modeling software and assembled without any expertise.

This solution is composed of a customized grip and a locking mechanism designed to accommodate various weights. The grip can be altered to best fit the user's anatomy, and the wrist brace helps transfers weight across the arm.

Tools needed
