Mario's Chair

Mario's Chair - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Medellín community

About this project

Our ideal prototype is a sports wheelchair made of aluminum which will specifically require parameters established by the game rules. It consists of a cold-rolled steel shock, anti-roll wheels on the front which normal go on the rear. For mobility reasons, we decided to close the open wheels of the chair and lastly implement a security belt which will protect him from injuries.

The challenge

His challenge for the makers is to create a chair that is appropriate for this sport activity and helps him enhance his skills in this sport.

Who it helps

Mario is a basketball player, he has been diagnosed with spina bifida and his chair does not allow him to play the Makers challenge in the best way is to create a chair that is appropriate for this sporting activity and enhance his skills in this sport. 17 years old, lives with his mother and is studying high school, began his basketball training and travels in a wheelchair autonomously.
