One-Hand Hair Puller

One-Hand Hair Puller - open-source assistive technology prototype by the TOM Israel community community

About this project

The device enables users to create two hairstyles independently: a tight half-pony or a full hair-gathering style that lifts the hair off the nape of the neck. The result is a neat, elegant, and elevated look — fully achievable with one hand.

The challenge

Many hairstyles and hair-gathering actions typically require two hands. This can make it challenging for people with one-handed mobility to style their hair independently and achieve a secure, polished look.

The solution uses an off-the-shelf, bi-directional hair comb that allows one-handed gathering of hair into a half-pony. By adding an elastic attachment to the comb, users can lift and secure all of their hair using only one hand.
