Pen Holder is a mouth stylus holder designed to sit at a comfortable height for the user so the stylus can be picked up and returned to the holder with ease. The challenge

Many people interact with digital touch screens like computers or tablets by using a mouth stylus. This mouth stylus can be difficult to put down and pick back up without the use of hands or outside assistance. The Pen Holder is designed to hold the pen in place at the user's comfortable mouth height.

ThisAbles is a joint project of Ikea-Israel, Milbat organization and Access Israel organization. In the framework of the project, a team of Milbat product designers and occupational therapists developed a variety of special devices and add-ons that enable people with disabilities to use and enjoy Ikea products.

Who it helps

Pen Holder is a 3D-printed tool which attaches to a table and serves as a support and holder for a mouth stylus or similar tool. When the user is finished using the stylus, they can simply place it on the holder for next time!

Many people interact with digital touch screens by using special tools. This device is designed for people who use a mouth stylus to operate a computer.

Many people live with challenges that do not allow them to use their hands to use a computer. A common special tool is a mouth stylus that lets the user navigate a touch screen using their mouth. However, there is no way to hold that mouth stylus up or to make it easily reachable for the user.

This device serves as a holder for a mouth stylus that can be kept by a computer. It can be adjusted to a person’s comfortable desired height and lets the user put their stylus down and easily pick it back up again.
