The NanoHack - the open-source respirator mask. Designed by Copper3D, a TOM:Chile Partner, company that manufactures PLACTIVE® an innovative Nano-composite developed with a high-quality PLA and a patented, scientifically validated and highly effective Nano-Copper additive that provides antimicrobial and antiviral protection.
NanoHack was inspired by the great global pandemic. The most radical innovations are born from crises.
This design provides the following advantages:
**FLAT PATTERN** which allow for easier manufacturing and massive shipping. **THERMOFORMING CAPABILITIES** At 55º - 60º C to allow the use of hair dryers or warm water to give the correct shape of the anatomy of any face. **REUSABLE & RECYCLABLE** You can use this mask any time you want, just wash it with soap and water. **MODULAR FILTRATION SYSTEM** that includes several layers with different geometries to provide an effective fine particle filtration. Furthermore, this system can house third party filtration materials, such as non-woven propylene, clothing, sponges, or textiles. **CONTROL OF THE FILTRATION AND AIR INTAKE** Prolong use of N95 respirators have shown to reduce lung capacity. These single-use respirators do not allow the regulation of air intake or particle size. NanoHack incorporates a modular filtration disc that can effectively regulate the air intake and the particle size.

Due to the global pandemic, the supply of facemasks is extremely limited and not available to those who need them most. Moreover, the regular masks lifecycle is estimated at 8 hours whereas the virus can live up to 72 hours.
An even greater danger that conventional masks present is that at the end of the day we would have a high viral/bacterial load trapped within millimeters of our nose and mouth, further exposing ourselves to these dangerous microbes.
Medical staff, first responders, police, and others on the front lines of combatting Coronavirus (COVID-19) are in dire need of protective gear that will allow them to keep safe and healthy so that they keep treating patients, emergencies and maintain the public order.
The build files for Respirator Face Mask (N95) - Coronavirus (COVID-19) are free to download from this page - open source, shared by TOM: Tikkun Olam Makers.
