Silicone grip for a standard maison jar

Silicone grip for a standard maison jar - open-source assistive technology prototype by the Parsons School of Design community

The challenge

Assisted drinking often requires careful cup handling in awkward positions. Slippery or hard-to-hold cups can lead to spills, stress, and extra effort. Improving grip can make hydration support safer and easier.

Who it helps

Caregivers and family members who assist with daily hydration, particularly when supporting users with limited motor control or drinking while reclining.

How it works

It improves handling when lifting, tilting, or repositioning the cup, reducing slips, spills, and physical strain during assisted drinking.

A silicone grip sleeve for cups or jars that adds a soft, non-slip surface, helping caregivers hold and control the container more securely during use.

Tools needed

PC or MAC I7 +

FDM Printer
