
The team created a device which can be fitted to the child’s chair, which allows them to calm themselves down in the middle of a lesson. The device senses swinging on the chair and sends pulses of increasing intensity to a sleeve on the child’s arm, which relaxes them.
The team needed to find a way to help calm down these students without the disruption.
Some children living with autism need to be calmed down in the middle of lessons in school, which disrupts the whole class.
