Tahel's Straw

Tahel's Straw - open-source assistive technology prototype by the 2021 TOM Global Innovation Challenge (GIC) community

About this project

A kit that includes an adjustable straw that can be attached to a spoon, fork and knife.

It will help the person to drink more comfortably by adjusting the length of the straw.

It is used for our most basic need, drinking. Made with dignity and doesn’t look unusual.

Who it helps

Tahel is 13 years old, born with CP. Her motor movement is limited, she's having trouble holding a cup and needs a straw that is almost

twice the length of a regular straw for drinking.

How it works

Telescopic straw - Tahel's Straw is one of the participating projects of the 2021 Global Innovation Challenge.

You can learn more about the challenge on the GIC website or browse the projects on the GIC community page .
