shaving disabled people

shaving disabled people - open-source assistive technology prototype by the 2021 TOM Global Innovation Challenge (GIC) community

About this project

We're offering a completely fully built and tested system that will

solve Djordje's problem with shaving. The system will have most of

its parts fully printable and adjustable, so it fits someone else's needs

and problems with of-the-self components.

The system has several degrees of freedom and rotations that will

give Djordje complete control of the trimmer. He can precisely

position the system, so it shaves even the most difficult areas, while

fully controlling it with his right arm.

The challenge

shaving disabled people

Who it helps

Djordje has been diagnosed with quadriplegic paralysis after a

motorcycle accident. He also has limited dexterity and strength in his

right hand, thus making it even more challenging to shave. His goal is

to solve this problem and become independent

The system aims to fulfill Djordje's wish to shave freely, without the

help of his caregiver.

How it works

The system for shaving disabled people is one of the participating projects of the 2021 Global Innovation Challenge.

You can learn more about the challenge on the GIC website or browse the projects on the GIC community page .
